Mapping is abstract - a location is either Now On The Map, or not.  “Mapping” pace, normal risks.  Mapper checks Delving.  Success adds the area to the map.  Failure means check Delving again or… LOST.  Event Countdown proceeds normally - GM may trigger, spending Chaos token(s), rolling d8 (or higher).
