Dodging in Cover: Cover provides protection from ranged attacks.  Partial Cover (low wall, furniture, ally): +2 AR against ranged attacks  Heavy Cover (stone wall, tree trunk): +4 AR against ranged attacks  Total Cover (fully behind wall): Cannot be targeted by ranged attacks You can dodge while in cover, but dodging moves you OUT of cover. You're either relying on the cover (AR bonus) OR dodging (leaving cover) Melee Ignores Cover: Cover only protects against ranged attacks from the covered direction. Enemies who reach melee range ignore your cover. Shooting from Cover: When you make a ranged attack from cover, you lose cover benefits against ranged attacks until your next turn when you can move back into cover (you're exposed while aiming/shooting). Taking Cover: Moving into cover requires your movement action. You can't attack and take cover in the same round unless you have an ability that says otherwise.
