You made it out alive. Congratulations. The dungeon wants your blood, but the town wants your money. Here, the monsters wear smiles, the traps are contracts, and the dice you roll determine whether you leave richer… or in chains. Town is another dungeon.
- Supplies don’t matter here. Prosperity Resistance (PR) does.
- Instead of wolves and trolls, you face debt collectors, rival adventurers, guild bosses, and taxmen.
- Failure doesn’t just hurt you. It marks you. Town remembers. Prosperity Resistance is the friction of living, carousing and shopping in Town. Every time you buy, bribe, feast, or sleep in a bed better than straw, your PR climbs. The richer you try to look, the harder town drags you down. When your business is done, it’s time to test whether you truly walk away free. Make a Prosperity Check! Accumulate Prosperity Resistance as you buy things, stay in inns, carouse, etc.
- When you leave Town, subtract the accumulated Prosperity Resistance from your Prosperity skill score (CHA).
- Selling loot can soften the blow: roll its die (d4, d6, d8, etc.) and add the result to the adjusted score before you roll.
- Make a Prosperity Check: roll d20 ≤ the modified score.
