- CLOSE: A step or two away

- Most spells are instantaneous. Ongoing effects usually last:
- Rounds = 1 round per 5 Effort (minimum 1 round)
- Scene = Until circumstances significantly change
- Permanent = Until dispelled or destroyed Many spells can be maintained while you concentrate. If you are harmed, doge, parry, attack or cast a spell, concentration is broken. Otherwise, roll Magic/Miracles at the start of each turn subsequent to the one in which you cast the spell, and spend 1 Mana. If you fail the check, your concentration fails and the spell stops. Simple cantrips that barely tax your power. Every caster knows a few.
- Cost exactly 1 Mana
- No roll required - they always work
- Effects are minor but reliable
- You know tricks = 1 per 5 points of Magic/Miracles; With Magic 15 , you know 3 tricks
